A quickie divorce is the most obvious way out—unless you’re the heir of a staunchly Catholic mafia boss with a draconian position on the sanctity of marriage. Throw their simmering attraction into the mix and all bets are off! Episode Two: Will & Patrick Meet the Family Meeting the family is challenging for every new couple. The heat is high (and occasionally kinky) as Will and Patrick struggle to accept their mutual affection. Episode Five: Will & Patrick Meet the Mob Patrick has finally accepted that he's in love with Will, but his newfound determination to do something about that runs up against his father-in-law's mobster plans. Will must face the truth about his family before he can fully come to terms with his feelings for Patrick. And Patrick has to decide if this whackadoodle world is something he truly wants to be part of forever. Episode Six: Will & Patrick's Happy Ending Sure, Will and Patrick are in love now, but they weren’t when they got married in Vegas. For Patrick, that’s no problem, but Will can’t shake his doubts that a relationship started through coercion can ever become the real deal. Since the Molinaro crime family has reversed their position on divorce, Will and Patrick have a chance to rectify their drunken mistake. But is divorce the right choice for them? This story was ok, and the plot could have went well, but... William was raised around enabling, submissive, selfish idiots... His mother is contradicting, controlling and unstable... She doesn’t love her son for wanting him to stay with a guy who throws him away like trash every fortnight. His uncle kept a man who didn’t want to be kept until the guy contracted AIDS and died... and his Nona is a selfish nut job who has a lover that she treats like a slave!!! Smh at this whole story... that boy had bad self esteem issues and depression which formed his alcoholism, from that foul upbringing he came from... lucky for him he met Patrick... honestly he needed to drop everyone he knew and start fresh... those people are all parasites and very cancerous... I wanted to love this but nope 👎🏿 Not going to lie, at the start, I wasn’t so sure this story would be a good fit for me. The characters and characterizations felt overblown, the story a bit silly, and quite frankly, I didn’t really care for Will or Patrick at first glance. I was wrong, so wrong. The hype is deserved. The good thing about longer books is time is on the author’s side. As the story and characters had time and space to develop, things came together and I found myself completely hooked less than a third of the way through. Will and Patrick Wake Up Married ended up being a fantastic book and one I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend. My first impression of Patrick wasn’t the best, but by the end he was a favorite (as in ever, not just within this book). I liked that readers get to see Patrick develop beyond his initial egocentric, socially inept persona. I liked that we were given an opportunity to learn and understand where he came from and why he was the way he was. And I LOVED that I got to see how having a place to belong exposed parts of Patrick he fought to keep hidden without changing him as a person. As the book closed, I found those moments that bugged me at first endearing, because I now knew him and loved him. I found Will difficult to like for a completely different reason. Whereas Patrick was abrasive, Will was a pushover. I’m not a fan of doormat characters and it irked me to see Will defer to so many people in his life, most especially his ex. As with Patrick, time gave me a new view on Will. However, I think it was Will’s development and progression, gaining confidence and asserting himself increasingly, that really changed my opinion…and it was an awesome thing to witness. Rarely do I see two “meh” characters make such a turnaround, but here they did. Not only did my understanding and appreciation for them evolve, but both Will and Patrick substantially changed over the course of the book and I loved that it happened slowly. As a reader I don’t mind working for my happily-ever-afters, and that’s what it felt like in Will and Patrick Wake Up Married. Nothing is rushed, everything is earned. As much as I liked these two men’s individual development, I really enjoyed them together. Their romance was a bumpy ride that went a little sideways at times, but it hit on every emotion. It was fun and made me smile and laugh…a lot. There was a surprising level of heat that felt natural rather than just a plot device to create buzz. And there were plenty of sweet, swoonworthy moments that had me sighing. Heck, I even cried a couple times because I was so emotionally invested in these men. Simply put, I grew to adore Will and Patrick and had an increasingly hard time putting the book aside. If you love quirky characters or odd love matches are in need of humor and heat, Will and Patrick Wake Up Married is a must read or listen.
