I have 2 key things to say about this book.1. This was an amazing story!! I love the characters and their teacher-student type relationship. (They did not date while they shared their class together which is awesome because that would have brought in some ethics issues.) These characters were lovable for their realistic personalities and their complex but passionate affections for one another.2. While I HIGHLY recommend this book, I feel obligated to mention that I completely hated the others in this series. I stopped reading while about 25% into the third book, and that was only after skipping pages throughout the second one. The others were essentially on-again-off-again plot twists of angst that threaten the normalcy of their relationship. I cannot read full books of ridiculous situations that break the same couple apart over and over again. Just be together or don't. Obviously, this is just a personal distaste for angst, so if you actually love the suspense of on-again-off-again relationships then you might actually obsess over these books.Overall this was an awesome story! My dislike of angst has prevented me from enjoying the remainder of this series, but please don't let that deter you from checking out this great beginning from a talented writer. (It doesn't end on a cliffhanger so I just like to pretend that this is a standalone novel). This story is not only lovely it's pretty much a Lesfic romance masterpiece. We are introduced to two strong, intelligent, yet very different characters in Elle and Hunter who are drawn together by forces beyond their own understanding in this first installment of the series. Elle is tall, dark, and intense with a PhD in English and, oh-no, teaching Hunter's Engllish composition class. Hunter is a shy, polite and also very intelligent nursing student who is stumbling through her Lesbian awakening. Their attraction is undeniable and intense, but the consequences of a student/teacher relationship could be dire for both of them. Not to mention the 9 year age difference plus family, friends, and colleagues pleading with them to put the brakes on and steer clear of impropriety. In these pages you will be treated to witty dialogue, polished writing, strong character and plot development, plus well placed bits of humor and sarcasm as told through Elle's POV. You will become as smitten with Elle and Hunter as they are with each other.
